Dallas law firm is seeking a Attorney Training and Development Manager who will be a key member of the Professional Development team and who, working closely with the Chief Development Officer, will develop, manage, and deliver attorney training and other development programs that support the professional growth and career success of attorneys across the Firm. The Manager serves as a collaborative communicator and project manager who understands adult learning theories and leverages digital technologies to design and develop next-level programming, enriching the attorney development experience.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborate in the development, planning, and delivery of Firm-wide and practice-specific training programs
  • Work with internal presenters on the development, design and format of practice group and professional skills training programs
  • Work with Chief Development Officer, Chief Diversity Officer, and Client Service Team to identify external speakers and presenters for training programs
  • Oversee practice training programs, including Trial Academy, Anatomy of a Deal, and practice boot camps
  • Partner with Chief Development Officer and Director of Recruiting to create relevant Summer Associate training programs
  • Manage outside Training Opportunities and coaching programs for firm lawyers
  • Manage and oversees the firm’s eLearning programs
  • Maintain networks and stays abreast of trends in the talent development field both within and outside the legal industry
  • Manage Pro Bono Opportunities, matching opportunities with developmental needs of attorneys
  • Create, maintain and update Competencies/Skills Tracking
  • Administer orientation program and New Attorney Training
  • Meet quarterly with new lateral attorneys to identify developmental and training needs
  • Identify monthly PLI programs for attorneys
  • Support Chief Development Officer in performance management and oversight
  • Develop and oversee performance management timeline and communications
  • Assist in developing strategies to facilitate a culture of real-time feedback, assessing trends in this area
  • Serve as a member of the Attorney Development Team and an Ex-Officio member of the Lawyer Development Committee
  • Work with Chief Development and Chief Diversity Officers and Chair of Women’s Initiative Committee to implement specific initiatives related to diversity training

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • JD or MS in Education, Organizational Development or related field preferred
  • 8+ years in a law firm or professional services industry required
  • Must have experience and knowledge of attorney professional development, including core competencies, adult learning concepts, program design, and attorney career progression
  • Must display a strong interest in training and professional development and have a demonstrated track record designing and implementing professional development programs
  • Highly organized, innovative, and results-oriented
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, effective listening skills and proven experience at diplomacy and building strong, collaborative relationships with attorneys and staff at all levels
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work well both independently and in a team setting
  • Highly motivated, proactive self-starter that demonstrates ownership, commitment to the job, initiative, and strong work ethic
  • Ability to multi-task and deal with stringent deadlines
  • Ability to exercise excellent judgment and discretion as to confidential and sensitive matters
  • Ability to deal effectively with change in fast-paced and changing environments
  • Ability to travel to other offices as needed
